Did Dr say anything about this.. like it is something that biologically happens due to less intestine, or no stomach, or is it a mindset. If its the 1st I hope he takes 10feet of mine so I don't like the taste of anything with fat or sugar,or anything that has the name bread or doughnut to it. Thx Lv Judi in Fla >> I tell you,it's the weirdest thing! The minute you put something in your mouth, you know if it's what your body needs. I have no problem w/ just spitting out food(well, you know what I mean). I'm truly convinced there is so much more to obesity then anything in the head! His theory, sorry if I misquote,is that in our stomach lies receptors. As you overeat your stomach receptors increase. These receptors are designed to make you gain weight. (Remember our brains still don't know about grocery stores, etc.) You eat a sugar/carb your brain says " That was great, but I need more " You say no . It says well I'll make you shake, weak, mimick a hypoglycemic reaction, etc. until you eat! Eventually it wins, you eat. This surgery severs many of those receptors. Now your brain says chocolate, but your colon could care less! He says it's like rubbing it on your arm...big deal. I find these things may taste ok,but make me sleepy. I don't like the feeling. It's interesting that I have not shook once since this surgery,or felt hypoglycemic post-op. Of course everyone's different, and I'm surely misquoting Dr.R,but that's how it make sense to me and how it's feeling to me. I truly hope you have the same experiences....except I could probably eat butter and not dump! That part I still have to keep in check.
