Guest guest
Genz, My feet, waist, and wrist are the only things that are small. It helped me hide how big I really was for so long. I always have a 19 or 20 inch difference in my waist and hips. My waist can be 23 or 24 at about 145 pounds. And, the big HUGE butt throws everything out of whack. Thanks for your kind remarks. But, I am a little disappointed that the loss wasn't more. I am re-certifying in August to teach aerobics. I exercise HARD daily and watch what I eat. Well, that easy, I am not hungry. But, I am feeling weird...not happy like I should be. I am nuts, I guess. le
Guest guest
Genz, I don't know how long it takes to build muscle. I was muscular already. I had edema in my feet. But, that was gone the day after surgery. So, maybe its all fat that was lost. I weigh on the same scale all the time, so that is probably not it. I do look and feel better. I will take it. I just need to adjust my expectations. le

Guest guest
Hi le, WOW! What fantastic results!!!!!! I just want to know where you got that 34 " waist? Girl I would love to have a 34 " waist........maybe I will in another six months. Try to eat so you can keep your strenghth up....but like Dr.R says, we are all very well nourished..ha..ha I could probably live on a deserted island for a year without food and be just fine. Let me know how you're doing. Love, Genz CuteAKA2nv@... wrote: > Hey everybody, > > I just weighed in. I will admit it was sort of anticlimactic. I have lost 25 > pounds. Guest guest
le, Since you are exercising " hard " every day do you think you are adding muscle in place of the fat and therefore your weight loss is not what you expected. We all know that muscle weighs more than fat. Also if you weren't plagued with edema before surgery that could be a factor. Your weight loss is right on target and sometimes different scales weigh differently. I think my PCP's scale was weighing " light " but that's ok because it made me feel good. Our hormones are still bouncing around....some days I feel better than others. I don't really have an appetite so I know what you mean about food. It's just no big deal anymore. I do think it will get better with time. Love, Genz CuteAKA2nv@... wrote: > Genz, > > My feet, waist, and wrist are the only things that are small. Guest guest
Hi le: I don't think you're nuts. (But then some would say I am so how can I be objective lol). I think we set ourselves up for disappointment. I think we get these numbers in our heads that we want to lose. We see others losing big and we compare ourselves to them. Then when it doesn't happen for us, we get disappointed. At least that's my take on what you may be feeling because I know I would. I keep thinking...30, I want to have lost 30. When I go to the doc tomorrow, I know that if I havne't lost 30 I'm going to be disappointed. I think that I'm such a perfectionist that if I lose 28 I'll view it as below average. (Please do not lecture me out there on the list...I KNOW that's not rational, but I KNOW how I will FEEL) It's not that I won't be grateful for anything I've lost..it's just that I've got that " average " weight loss number up in my head. I think you've worked hard, exercised hard, have had little to eat, and had it in your head that you would lose more than you did. For you this is disappointing. We can't help what we feel. And it doesn't make us nuts. It makes us honest...and, well, normal. Remind me of all this tomorrow when I come home from the docs itchingb, will ya? Guest guest
le, I would love to talk to you about eating or not eating. Monday will be my one month mark and I am holding off to weigh in then. Like you the clothes say it is working but I am afraid I will be disappointed in what the scale says. I started out at 300 and my coworkers are telling me I am fine right where I am now. Can you imagine that? I have not lost that much. I can only eat a very, very small amount. I had a problem with this one day this week and became upset about it. I do mostly liquids but occassionally would like to have a little something more. I made stringbeans and potatoes and fixed a small serving of this. I only ate a few beans and 3 bites of potatoe. I also had a small piece of baked fish but after about 3 bites of that I thought I would lose it all and spent some time in the bathroom waiting to see which way it would go. I have not vomited but I have had this happen 3 times. It seems as though there is no time between feeling like I am satisfied and being overfilled. I am afraid to eat. So I go back to OJ,applesauce, jello, gatorade and popsicles. I get a little discouraged when I see what others are managing to eat. Guest guest
le, Do you have a list of requirements for BCBS? They just sent me a request for additional info. They asked for clinic notes from my visit with Dr. R, a psych profile, and a nutritional counseling note from a dietician. I have the second two, I go to clinic on July 11th for the note from Dr. R.. I have also written a long letter pointing out why MGB is so good, printed a patient manual, the MGB paper from the conference, and Dr. R.'s credentials. Is there anything else I should put in that packet? You can either post to the board or email me privately at HADJAB@.... Thanks alot and congratulations on you success so far... I hope you are feeling better and able to eat more soon! Deb

I don't write things down anymore, but I just don't feel hungry. And, sometimes I want something and it doesn't sit very well. So, maybe it will pass. If, I stay like this for a month, I will go back to therapy and see what she says. le

Guest guest
Deb, They have gotten utterly ridiculous! They keep adding on to their BOGUS criteria. These are the additional things I sent: A letter from my PCP stating medical necessity. A detailed diet history documenting at least one physician supervised diet in the last five years. (make it LOOONG) A letter from me stating why I needed to surgery. ( Make it long and sad) I will send you mine. Your medical records from PCP showing your weight for over the years. They want five years of obesity and two year at twice your ideal weight. I sent them some other research. They approve this procedure. So, you can don't have to convince them. I had already been to therapy and a nutrition counselor, but it wasn't required at the time of my approval. Gather it all and send it together. Otherwise, they will keep requesting more and more information one piece at a time. le
