I thought I was the only one that thinks smoothies are nasty glop! I have tried several suggested smoothie recipes and couldn't stand any of them. Some people like them a lot, so I guess you have to try them to see which camp you're in. For my money, when you add up the calories in one of those things, I can get as much protein for 1/3 the calories eating boiled shrimp, which I do like, and use the difference in calories to eat other things I like better! Marie You may not need the smoothies right now, depending on what your protein intake is. Keep track of your foods on dietwatch.com for a few days to get a feel for how you eat. If you aren't getting enough protein (55 grams), try adding some protein-rich foods, like shrimp, tofu (which you can mix in anything at all), baked or broiled fish, eggs, or whatever you tolerate that is high protein. Yogurt is not high protein and for the calories you get (relatively high for a small amount of food) and the amount of actual eating you get for the calories (not much), to me it is a bad trade off. As for making smoothies, if you can get a protein powder and a creatine powder that are *not* flavored, surely that would help, and for sure, don't add citrucell to the smoothie. I'm stuck with about a half-gallon sized jug of vanilla-flavored protein right now, but my creatine is non-flavored. I found the easiest for me was to just put the protein and creatine in about 4 oz. orange juice, stir furiously, then drink it. It wasn't terrible but it will never be on my list of favorites, either. I'm working on some tofu protein ideas. Kind regards,

The kind I got, it takes a full *cup* to get 55 grams of protein, so if they are all like that, I sure wouldn't want to see the capsules they come in. The creatine only takes 1 teaspoon to get 5 grams (daily amt). Kind regards,

Guest guest
Hi Susie, This recipe equates to about 8-12 servings post-op. ha..ha. It sounds interesting but I haven't tried any smoothies yet. There are some post-ops out there that love smoothies, I just haven't gotten up the nerve yet to try one. Your dance is really getting close...I'm praying for you girl!!!!
