Since there is so much discussion on Nicomide lately, here's my

update. I've now been on Nicomide for almost 5 months. For me it

has worked very well. Please see my earlier posts, #34972 and

#35165. I believe it has worked better for my rosacea than any oral

or topical antibiotic I've tried (I'm still using Metrogel and

Biaxin.) For me, I started to see improvement within 1 to 2 weeks

and it was quite dramatic. Nov and Dec, before starting Nicomide,

were awful. I've seen about an 80% improvement and some days look

totally normal. The improvement has been in flushing, breakouts,

itching, skin texture, and the horrible heat sensation I had for 8-

10 hours per day. I don't consider it expensive. It costs me

$106.14 for 360 pills (a six month supply) from Sav-on Drugs and it

is covered by my insurance which pays 80%. So before insurance it

costs $17.69 per month, after insurance $3.54.

I've also looked into topical niacinamide solutions. I purchased

one from a company called Naturally Clear but have never used it so

I don't know how effective it is. I haven't used it because of my

success with Nicomide. It is their Nourishing Spray (ingredients:

distilled water, niacinamide, aloe vera, sodium PCA.) Their website

is www.naturallyclear.com and phone # is 1-888-24CLEAR. They sell

their products with a 45 day money back guarantee. Another source

of a topical is from a doctor in Arroyo Grande, CA. He makes his

own products and offers a 4% topical niacinamide gel and cream. It

was originally non RX but when I went to order it, he was required

to sell it prescription only. It is about $15-20 and he will sell

to people who provide a prescription. His website is

www.progesteronepower.com/doctorsformulas/ and phone # 1-805-473-

3496. My derm was going to give me a prescription, but again I

haven't felt I needed it.

For me Nicomide has been very beneficial.

Take care,
