I wrote

I should have said just use enough water to almost cover the apples, cover, and

simmer for

awhile until the apples are soft. Then, when finished cooking, drain the water

if there is a lot

left. The first time I didn't have much water left, and I didn't need to drain

it. I just ate the

apples pieces, rather than as applesauce (although later my 9 year old daughter

came over

and saw that I hadn't made applesauce yet, so she got out the potato masher and

mashed up

the apples!). The second time I had much more water left and I drained most of

the liquid.
