Guest guest
I have no idea whether golden delicious apples have arabinose, but arabinose has nothing to do with SCD. SCD allows all types of apples. If you want to make apple juice yourself, there is a recipe for apple cider on pecanbread.com. http://www.pecanbread.com/recipes.html Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/

Guest guest
Hmm, we can't use any of the ingredients in that recipe except for the apples. It doesn't look like there's any basic juice recipe listed. Pear would be better than apple; my son's allergic to apples (he's less allergic to pears). I need a safe juice for our intro diet starting Friday - and tomorrow's my day for cooking! His only non-allergic fruit is cranberry, and that's not on the base diet. Could I take some pear sauce and water it down? Guest guest
Do you have a juicer? You can make juice out of practically anything in a juicer. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
If he is actually allergic (IgE-true allergy) to apples and pears, then he should not eat them. No one should consume food to which they are actually true allergic. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
Pam, I don't think that Jen was implying anything specific for your son. You will need to determine if your son is sensitive to apples or not (or more specifically, this type of apple). Guest guest
All this apple discussion is very interesting, I had no idea that someone could be sensitive to a certain type of apple. My son did have a reaction to the Gala apples so I thought it was all apples. Next time I will try the Golden Delicious and see if there is a reaction. Very good topic. Guest guest
Apples are fine for SCD. Each individual has to make a choice about what suits their own body's issues. But there is no SCD reason for avoiding apples. My kids eat them daily and do just fine with them. No yeast issues.
