April,

Hi, I'm Tonni, and I had my surgery on 4/10/00. I'm not real sure how long

my surgery took, but I do know mine was about 30-40 longer because of an old

gallbladder surgery. I have had no problems, but I did get an extra port

hole from the gallbladder surgery. I have lost 30 lbs. I'm an at home mom,

so I went back to work when my plane landed in Ohio. The 2-3 week, I did go

through a period, where I was tired. I did need sleep. That went away in

about a week. I had the normal gas pain and bloated feeling, but I took one

shot from the nurse, I didn't use a pump. My surgery was the LAST one on

mondaay 4/10/00, I was out of the hospital by noon on tuesday, and wed.

morning at 11:30, I was on a flight back home.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck

Tonni

Hi everyone!

I just got home from a visit with my PCP and I am happy to say that he

will support me! I was worried that because I don't have severe

co-morbidities, he would say it was too drastic, but he was very supportive

and thought it is the best thing for me. I'm going now to send in my patient

info form to Dr. Rutledge. I have my 10 contacts, but only email contacts.

I just noticed in the out of state patient info that we're supposed to talk

to the contacts on the telephone. Is there anyone willing to give me their

phone number to be my contact? I appreciate all the help I can get!

Can't wait to be on the other side!

Hi April,

My name is Marie and I haven't had my surgery yet, but 6/2 is my

date. You may have better luck if you e-mail some of the post-ops

privately. Some may not read the posting here much anymore. I had

to send out 50-60 request before I got my 10 contacts. I think you

will find many helpful people here but I'm sure they are getting a

lot of request daily and may have a hard time answering all. Wish I

could help!! Just send to lots of people on the list that Dr. R. has

the e-mail addresses in the Patient Info book. That's what I did!!

Good Luck,

Marie

Debbie,

Hi, I had my surgery 4/10/00, and I just made a list of the people I chatted

with on line, and emails. Just make a list of the email names, and you

should be fine. Move on to your next step in your packet.

Good Luck,

Tonni

Debbie, Elaine from Indiana. Call me evenings. I only had

one phone contact, and I don't really think you need them anymore. I just

copied my email responses.

<< Hi guys, sorry to bother. My name is April Preddy, I'm from Oxford, NC. I

am

in the process of trying to get everything together for surgery approval. I

have ask for help a couple of times but only received a few responses. I

need contacts, some of my questions are how long the surgery took,

>>> April, my surgery took a little longer than most. I had adhesions from

a previous surgery. Dr. R. tried to use just the portholes for me, but

finally had to make an open incision. Even so, I was fine! I'm still fine!

No problems.

did you have any complications, >>>> no complications

how much weight have you lost, >>> 85 pounds

how long were you out of work, >>>> seven weeks, but ONLY because it was an

open incision and I work in an environment that requires emergency responses

at full tilt; my work buddy who had the same surgery the same week was back

to work in ten days.

when did you have your surgery >>> 16 Dec 99

and were you in a lot of pain after the surgery? >>> nope, on a scale of one

to ten, ten being the most discomfort, I never felt more than a four.

Again, your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

April >>

Keep moving forward! I'd do this all again in a heartbeat, April! Dee in MI
