Elaine wrote that bacon with sugar could be used once a week if fried until crisp. These days there are many legal brands and some have found that the lower sodium brands are legal. Could I add in ground nuts already, or do I have to go to nut butter first? " I'd try some of the recipes using nut butter first. And I would hold off on the raw carrots for a while longer. Try introducing a wide variety of cooked veggies first. If there are ones he doesn't like, but tolerates well, cook them together and then puree them with a bit of the cooking water. This will make a nice thick stock for making veggie soup, using only the veggies that he thinks he likes in their whole forms. (For example, let's just say he doesn't like broccoli, cauliflower or peas. Cook those three together and puree them into a nice stock. Then, let's suppose he does like green beans and carrots. Cook those together and drain. Then add whatever spices you like to the " stock " and put the cooked veggies and some meat (if desired) into the stock as well.
