Guest guest
Hi , > Has anyone found ANY kind of scd legal bacon or turkey bacon? In Canada, I use Maple Leaf 33 1/3 less salt. Elaine wrote that bacon with sugar could be used once a week if fried until crisp. These days there are many legal brands and some have found that the lower sodium brands are legal. If unsure about ingredients just ask. Sheila, SCD 60 mos, 22 yrs UC mom of Em and Dan

Are there any problems with baby carrots, and are there differences between regular and organic?

Meanwhile many prefer to use organic when possible, especially if sensitive to peticide, and I am among them but people will appreciate SCD works well with conventional foods and is less costly. My son is looking forward to starting raw vegetables. When is a good time to start? Even when we were on this the first time around I waited a few weeks for raw veg., and this was after he was on prednisone for over a month and showing a marked improvement. This time he's already on his maintenance dose of pentasa and azathioprine, and after a week on the diet his D is gone. We are avoiding drugs, and calling his dr. for a while, if we can. We are going very slowly, in the mid of week 2. Could I add in ground nuts already, or do I have to go to nut butter first? This is a kid who has no known allergies, with Crohns. Thanks and take care, Fay

Guest guest
" We are going very slowly, in the mid of week 2. Could I add in ground nuts already, or do I have to go to nut butter first? " I'd try some of the recipes using nut butter first. And I would hold off on the raw carrots for a while longer. Try introducing a wide variety of cooked veggies first. If there are ones he doesn't like, but tolerates well, cook them together and then puree them with a bit of the cooking water. This will make a nice thick stock for making veggie soup, using only the veggies that he thinks he likes in their whole forms. (For example, let's just say he doesn't like broccoli, cauliflower or peas. Cook those three together and puree them into a nice stock. Then, let's suppose he does like green beans and carrots. Cook those together and drain. Then add whatever spices you like to the " stock " and put the cooked veggies and some meat (if desired) into the stock as well. This will give you nice more varried veggie soup without him seeing the veggies he doesn't like.) Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
