Guest guest
If there is some question maybe I can help as I just had laproscopic cholecystectomy and liver biopsy on December 2. I thought that the surgeon was also supposed to take a look at my pancreas but when I asked him after the surgery he said he didn't - that he couldn't do it from that angle. I went into the surgery with elevated amylase and believe the surgery triggered a full blown pancreatitis attack. It was unbearable!! The surgeon is a biliary surgeon and did a great job. The hospital staff (the residents are from New York Hospital, I think) was terrific and very attentive to my needs. Anyway, time will heal this and I hope to be feeling better soon. Jill Hi Jill, Thanks for your info on your gallbladder surgery. I don't know yet, but suspect that I may have some problems with my once healthy gallbladder due to recent pain in that area. Usually it is the gallbladder that is problematic, then removed, and then CP develops afterward. I guess I'm just weird enough to be going backward into this whole thing, since I've had chronic pancreatitis for well over two years and am now having suspect gallbladder problems! It sounds like your surgery went smoothly and that you're on the road to recovery. Thowing an episode of pancreatitis into the mix certainly didn't help, though, yet I imagine that this could be a predictable outcome of any abdominal surgery since our pancreas' are so sensitive to any interference. This also may be why it has been taking so long for you to recover fully and regain your full health. I'm sorry it's taken longer than you'd hoped to get back on your feet. Did the doctors suggest to you beforehand that this, (a pancreatitis attack), might be an outcome? And didn't you have CP before the surgery was done? Also, what problems were you experiencing prior to this that brought about the decision to have the cholecystectomy initially? Sorry for all the questions, but now that my doc is talking about my gallbladder, I'm just trying to figure out what to expect. I may be putting the cart before the horse and really won't know more until after my CT-scan, which I just now scheduled for next Monday. I'd be interested to know the scenario that brought about your surgery. It's easy to understand you're goof up with the soda bottles, since I know it's hard to pace yourself once you start feeling better. I hope your recovery continues smoothly and incident-free. Just try to rest and take it easy, the healing will eventually happen. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth SC Southeastern Representative Pancreatitis Association, Intl.
