Guest guest
Hi Antoinette; Hang in there - you're not alone! It's a sad reality that most parents with ASD kids are in the same boat. We also re-mortgaged our home in order to pay for treatments. And yes, I also feel lost and stressed. You've got a great attitude about downsizing. A house IS just a house. What makes it a home is the family inside, and your decision to dedicate your life to healing that family is the best decision you could have made. Hang on to your faith - you are on the right track! Hugs Kim :-) Pre SCD (3 yo ASD, 2 yo NT) Need Support (off topic a little) Hey guys, Due to high medical expense since 2004 we are in a mortgage (due to refinance to pay bills) that we can nolonger afford
Guest guest
Hi Antoinette, We also, suffered loss at the hand of our 5 yr old autistic son. We lived in a city that didn't have any funding or programs for autism. The school board wanted to put in the mentally retarded school, because he would be safe there- because all the classroom doors were locked, and the area where the children played outside was fenced in. There was NO autism programs there at all, they just didn't know where else to put him. So, my husband gave up his business, I gave up my 2 home-based businesses, my job of 14 years, and we moved 6 hours away from all of our friends and families to a place with a good program for him. We sold our house and moved to a place where we will never be able to afford one. My oldest 9 yr old son is miserable, my husband works for a company that he hates (but the pay is pretty good). I decided to stay at home with the kids for now (I also have a 3 yr old daughter) and I am miserable. But, this is the best hope for to get help, so, we didn't have a choice. Sacrifice seems to be commen with us parents of autism, and we all know that it's hard, and it sucks. But, comfort can come from knowing that you are not alone, and we are all suffering together, wherever in the world we are. You are doing the right thing for your child- you are a good mom. Things will get better. We all need words of encouragement once in a while, even if you know that what you are doing is right, and it's OK to ask for them, us fellow moms always have some to spare. Best to you and your family Amber. Mom to (slight ADD) (severe asd) and Lucy (nt- but rotten) New here. > > Hi Antoinette; > > Hang in there - you're not alone! I started to concentrate on something cheery and then recalled another lisr member had the same circumstances and also some former list members and regretably got sidetracked. Finding a diet that may help your child merits a smile. Knowing although food isn't free that the diet is, is smile worthy too. Hearing the many success stories that have happened here always gets a big smile from me and I hope it makes others feel as good too. i am sure it does. Unfortunately we get some bad cards dealt to us in life and have to really apply ourselves to play them towards winning even when it seems darkest. Smile, you're on Candida camera :-) Carol F.
