Guest guest
I am 5'8 " and was 239 when I had my surgery. Dr. Rutledge let me have my surgery because of the co-morbidities I also had besides the weight. I was also a self-pay. I paid Dr. R $3455; the anesthesiologist was $792; and the hospital was $7000. I had to give the hospital a cashiers check for $11,000 and just got the overpay check today. Hope this helps Elaine from Indiana whats the weight limit? > Hi out there! > I have some questions about a few things. > > How long after a pregnancy do you have to weight before getting the > surgery? > And is there a big price difference if you are a self pay? > because that would be me} > My average weight for the PAST YEAR has been 200-230 it a never > ending cycle and I have finally had it with the bulge and we are > going to have one more child and then I want the surgey but I dont no > if im " big " enough? > Has any one out there 230 about 5'8-9 had it done? > > Thanks to everyone for any help you can give me! > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Never lose a file again. You have to be 100 pounds over your ideal weight or 50-100 pounds over your ideal weight if you have " comorbidities, " which are problems such as diabetes, asthma, arthritis, sleep apnea, high blood pressure. It also goes by " Body Mass Index, " ( " BMI " ). If your BMI is over 40, you are " morbidly obese " and qualify for the surgery. If it is between 35 and 40, you can qualify if you have comorbidities. Go here to compute your BMI: http://clos.net/bodymassindex.htm Kind regards, lindat @ fourlane.com (no spaces)

Thanks to everyone for any help you can give me! >> I don't know how long after a pregnancy you have to wait for surgery, but I do know that there is a discount for self-pays. I think it's 20%, but check the website to be sure. As for being " big enough " , if you aren't there is also the mini gastroplasty (I think that's what he calls it) that Dr. R. is doing now for people who have 50-100 lbs to lose. Since you are planning to be a self-pay this might be for you. Also I think it is cheaper than the MGB. Check it out on the website! Guest guest
I had high cholestrol, high blood pressure, joint aches, feet aches, depression, and family history of heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes. I was 240 when I had the surgery May 24. In the three weeks since, I have lost 16 lbs.
