Hi Guys:

I'm excited and know I won't be able to sleep. So here's my report on

tonight's dinner at Sorrento in Raleigh.

There were about 20 of us for dinner. Steve and Parsons arranged it

and we had a private room. has lost close to 100 pounds. WOW! I saw

a before picture and it sure do make a big difference. Steve has lost a

large amount of weight also. Nice folks.

We had (the one who did the memorial fund for ) who is a

lovely person and a beauty too! There was ...also a wonderful

person and very pretty! I sat next to Jane Hoyle (as in cards) and Jane has

lost 68 pounds. I was shocked to find out she is 50 (looks like late 30's)

and she was a wealth of information.

Genz was there..great person, lots of fun. and the mom

and daughter from New Joisey. Their turn is Thursday.

Trish was there. She had her clothes on when the cops came. Fortunately they

set the bail fairly low so Rexanne didn't mind posting it. Rexanne is a

hoot..looks like she's been a Barbie all her life and you really need to

talk to her about her skin, how tight it is, and what she uses on it. She

is warm and caring..just like she comes across on the internet. The surgeon

she sleeps with (Tom) came also and was lots of fun. Great people!

Lori, her husband , her dad and her son Josh (hope that's right)were

all there. Lori is a trooper, a rock, and I'm grateful to have her as a

littermate. She's one of those folks that make you feel like you're ok, that

everything will be ok....she exudes warmth!

And then there was the other (I hope I got that right) who is a real

beauty and came in her smashingly wonderful new car! Oh, yes and my sister

Dot was there too. She has a wonderful younger sister named Flo. So charming

that Flo is.

This is a wonderful group of people. Warm and caring beyond belief. These

are not false people. These folks are the real thing.

I haven't even had surgery yet and I would encourage each of you when you

get your surgery dates to get to know the folks you will be having surgery

" with " during your surgery week. If I were to be sent home tomorrow without

surgery, I would be grateful for the experience of having met these warm and

wonderful people.

Dr. Rutledge is what everyone says and more....competence with absolutely no

arrogance...a rare commodity. I feel taken care of. I feel like this is

going to be ok. I'm at peace with my decision...excited to experience life

on the other side. It's been 50 years...50 years out of 57 years of being an

overweight person. I can't even imagine...........

Flo from land ...watching Trish very carefully from Durham, NC because

heaven knows someone has to!

Dear ,

What a wonderful way you described meeting all the people you

met at the dinner. I almost felt as if I were there too. (God knows

that if my insurance went through, I would have). I was so happy to

hear that you had a chance to meet my " Mom " , Flo and my 'sister'

Trish, and my 'brother' Steve...smile You are right to in stating

even if you didn't have surgery how wonderful it was to have met

everyone. I haven't met anyone face to face, but I know that the

people I have met here, touch my heart and my soul. I am dying to

know Rexanne's secret. I am still thinking of the time I talked with

her in the chat room and she was saying that she put cute bandaids on

her incisions when she wore a bikini, and that she wore mini-skirts!

I want to be like her when I grow up!!! LOL

My report from Durham follows:

I visited several of today's surgery patients, a few were asleep, and two

had their doors closed so I didn't barge in on those folks.

: She had not been in her room long and was feeling pretty rough. I

just patted her hand and she won't even remember I was there I'll bet.

She'll be fine...just a lot of nausea. But they were giving her meds for it

while I was there.

Darlene: Doing good. Sleepy but feeling ok. She's from land too so I

had to go by and see her. Her daughter is with her. Only stayed a minute

because I wanted her to rest.

Marie: She is doing so good! Her nice husband was there and I met him and

he came and got me at Darlene's room and said Marie wanted a picture of me.

So she took one of my sister and I. Marie was sitting up the whole time I

was in the area and is doing great! She's only two hours away from Durham

so she'll go home tomorrow. Hope there's not a lot of bumps. But she's a

trooper!

Trish had a terrible cough this morning and I hope that is better. Toni is

doing very well too and I talked to and she and , her

daughter, are both doing ok. Everyone that had surgery on Thurs. went home

today (to hotels, of course).

Flo is doing fine also. Not hungry, I fill up easily, the shortness of

breath from the surgical gas is gone, and I feel better all the time. Just

feels like I got a big punch in the stomach. I'm following Dr. R's

instructions to the letter of the law! My Mom didn't raise a dummy.

I'm heading for the comfy bed. I can sleep on my side (right only, left is a

little tender) so I'm looking forward to that.
