The girls had problems with this when they were on Creon too. We had them

maxed on BOTH creon and prilosec. So their doc changed them to Pancreacarb

and a lower dosage of prilosec and that seems to have " fixed " that problem

for now. Might ask them if they think that might work on her. Good luck,

aren't some cf docs just " fun " ?

The tongue thing could be geographic tongue...which can be from reflux

or from allergies, from what I understand. The red spot is what makes

it sound like it might be geographic tongue. Our son has this

rather frequently.

If it is thrush....it might be from inhaled steroids and it is hard to

get rid of in that case. We found that only diflucan worked for this

type of thrush (which happened when they were babies and it was hard

to rinse the inhaled steroids out.) Inhaled steroids are stuff like

pulmicort respules, or pulmocort or flovent inhalers. You need to

really rinse their mouths when they use these things to keep trush

from developing. Of course, antibiotics can also lead to thrush.

There is also something called hand, foot and mouth disease (coxsackie

virus). the lesions inthis case are usually very painful so you

should be able to tell if they have this.

Also I didn't catch how old your child is...but if it is a younger

child and you are doing enzymes by opening the capsule and dumping

into the mouth, this may be the culprit (almost likethe enzymes are

digesting the tongue....)....also possible if mixing with food and all

the beads don't go down. This is alot of the reason we taught the

kids to swallow their enzymes when they were really really little.

ph was about 9 or 10 months when he learned to swallow his

prilosec capsules.

Hopethis helps.

I have input on one of your questions. Wyatt's poop is also yellow

sometimes. I've never actually thought twice of the color bc it's

never been a " normal " color. He actually rarely ever has formed poop

at all. He was gettting very high on his Creon too and taking Zantac.

our doctor and dietician put him on Pancreacarb MS-8. That takes away

the need for Zantac too. He is 7yrs old, 46 " tall and 47lbs and takes

5 capsules w/ meals and 3 w/ snacks. His poop is still not " normal "

but he's growing and gaining weight just fine. He knows how to

swallow pills but if Joy doesn't they are the beads so they can be

opened and dumped in pudding or something. Hope that helps...you can

maybe bring that up to the docs. Christy mom of Wyatt7wcf and Hunter

How does she take her enzymes? Because beads from the enzymes can cause

irritation in the mouth if they are not swallowed. About the floating poop my

the toilet which I think it more of a concern then when they float. My

doctors tell me if they are formed and No greasy stools we are OK. Hope this

Hi Ann,

nice to see you posting here again :-))

Fiona has had yellow floaters for four years. After I read numerous

positive reports about the change of poop due to the supplementation

of Crataegus (for details please read the archive of the crataegus

list if interested at

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/crataegus/

we tried that too. Her stools now, one and a half year later are

either brown and sinking or orange and oily. The latter shows that

mom or dad have miscalculated the needed dosage again :-((

I have to admit though that Fiona hasn't gained much weight during

the time that her poop is normal now. Other factors come in to play

here of course, but we didn't see the results we were hoping for.

Peace

Torsten

Hi,

Still waiting on reports from the biopsies, etc. but just wanted to comment on

the yellow stools.

Caden's are almost always yellow, some times orange and have been rarely off

white!

But, almost always yellow and loosely formed, very oily and floating. This has

been to the extreme this past weekend.

I can't wait to find something out.

He goes for his sinus CT tomorrow. His stuffy but not like he has been. I think

that Extendryl helped. It is root beer flavored. Anyone else ever used this?

OH, Caden does have a geographical tongue. It is not white. It actually looks

like a road map. It is regular color, only there are spots that are very

pink/raw looking... Kinda like a map...It is aggravated by different foods. We

are yet to figure out for sure which ones they are! I do know that when it is

flared up, salty things burn.

As of now, you can't see it. It only flares up on occasion, however, when he was

a baby, it practically stayed that way all of the time.

He has also had the thrush. That is blisters in the mouth. They painted his

tongue with some ginger violet stuff. I think that is what you call it. I read

somewhere that the Thrush can be caused from malnourishment.

Krystena s

mom to:

Caden 4 yrs Glutaric Aciduria type II (testing for CF)

10 yrs (half sibling) -Diabetic

Couple Concerns

I haven't been contributing here in a while due to time constraints,

but I have been reading posts from time to time. Regardless, I now

have some questions I'd love your input on.

Joy has what appears to be a yeast infection on her tongue, however

it hasn't responded to typical medication (Nystatin) and the design

on her tongue seems a bit atypical. Her tongue has a white coating

on it looking like milk everywhere except the center -- towards the

back there is a heart shaped rather red spot. Anyone seen anything

like this?

One of the other many concerns I have right now is her poop (ya

gotta love these questions). Joy's poop is ALWAYS yellow and

oftentimes it floats. She's maxed out on Creon for her weight, and

she already uses Zantac to combat too much acid affecting the

enzymes. Anyone have any advice on this? The doctors NEVER have

any input on her yellow poop, but it seems rather strange to me --

after all, my poop is rarely yellow. I was wondering if maybe she

needed some Lacto Bacillus and Acidophilus in large quantities or

something. Someone suggested it may be due to dairy products, but

even when we remove the abundance of dairy we give her, she still

has yellow poop. Should I be concerned?

All my other questions can wait for the doctors, but these two have

All my other questions can wait for the doctors, but these two have

been presented already to the docs and they have no successful

input.

Thanks for your help,

Ann (mommy of Joy who will be three next month)
