I didn't get any calls from Dr. Rutledge out of the blue, but I did

call him in advance by paging him at the hospital to get him to call

in prescriptions before surgery (my health insurance requires

prescriptions to be filled at one particular place) and he called me

back for that.

He answers questions at the clinic, so have your questions ready.

You'll also see a video of what the actual surgery looks like as Dr.

R. stands there and explains what you are seeing.

He also visits with you one-on-one after the clinic. I don't think

you'll feel short-changed.

You can get 90% of your questions answered here in this group, too,

before you go.

I only had one burning question by the time I got to clinic. I

wanted

to know if the part of the stomach that is cut away from the new

smaller stomach would still gurgle or send hunger signals to the

brain. Surprise (to me), Dr. Rutledge says it isn't the stomach that

sends hunger signals to the brain, it is the small intestine, and the

larger, unused part of stomach doesn't gurgle because it doesn't have

any air left in it. It also does not atrophy, it just stays there

as-is.
