How in the world did you get approved for a tummy tuck RNY? I cant even get

approved for a gastric bypass....I am supposed to have good insurance. But,

I am not sick enough yet . I think that is silly myself. Does anyone out

there know what a life threatening condition is??? That is what I have to

have in order to be approved. I have been denied and I don't know about an

appeal.. Does any one have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield? If so, did you

have a life threatening condition? Keeley

Joann hi, I have been approved for an open RNY w/tummy tuck here in Fla with

another Dr. which I will have if my insurance denies my appeal for surgery

with Dr. Rutledge. It took me six monthes to get that approval, waiting was

the hardest thing that I had ever done. Now I have to wait 3 months to get

surgery here, if I want the tummy tuck, as I have to not smoke for 3 months,

am on the patch, and waiting is again hard. But now that I know it is going

to happen, it is alitle bit easier. I have to keep my hands busy.

Hi Robyn. Is the doctor you are seeing in Florida Dr. Norman s in Ft.

Lauderdale by any chance?? If so, I happen to know him. He was at a party at

my house once a few years ago in honor of a mutual friend. He has a delightful

accent and is a very nice man. In fact, I would go to him for surgery except I

want it done laparoscopically and he doesn't do that. Good luck and I hope you

I am sorry to have misrepresented myself. I have been Approved for WLS, the

Dr that I will be going to offers 3 options, open, Lap, and open with Tummy

Tuck, the tummy tuck is optional, and I will ahve to pay extra for it. But,

and I am rethinking this now, I have never had any surgery before and I

don't want to have it again, so my train of thought was to kill two birds

with one stone. Unless of course, the insurance company honors my appeal,

and then I will be doing the Durham dance.

A doctor friend of mine once said that " There is no rhyme or reason

insurances do what they do. " I too was denied by my insurance 2 times. I

had the MGB done one month ago and personally paid. It was the best thing I

ever did for ME. My insurance claims you must have a life threatening

problem before they will cover. Silly isn't it...they will pay after you

have thousands of dollars in medical bills instead of using the MGB as a

preventative to life threatening illnesses...Good luck to you.
