Guest guest
My son is 14 years old. He knows that dying from CF is a possibility but has never really asked me about it. A couple of years ago we were all sitting around the table joking around about who was going to be what when they grew up and who was going to have children. was very quiet. If you knew josh you would know that it is just not him to keep his mouth shut about anything. I tried to draw him into the conversation but he remained kind of to himself. It really bothered me because it made me feel that he didn't think that he had a future to plan for. There are still days that I think about it and it still tugs at my heart. When I would lurk on Cystic-L he would sometimes read over my shoulder. Every now and then he would see a post about " another angel " . I would keep reading and not comment. Finally one day he asked me what that meant. I was honest and told him that they were referring to someone who had died from CF. At one point I believe that he was afraid that he would die. But I don't think that he dwells on it. It has been years since he learned that it was a possibility, and he's still here. Like any teen, I think that he has that " yeah right " attitude. I prefer it that way. I'm sure that by the time Jack is a teen he will feel invincible too.
