Kids response to Death

I think kids take there ques from us. If they ask us questions - whether

it be sex, death or divorce and we act " strange " they know there is something

to it.

I have tried to be honest about death. Although I do believe in something

after this and I believe its a wonderful place and am not afraid.

Try to find out EXACTLY what your child is looking to know. If it hurts,

missing you, being alone - many times you can answer their questions by

finding out what they are afraid of.

With kids, stress to them to look at the copyright date of articles and

information. I have told them the average life span but also tell them how

some people don't do their treatments, etc. and that can play a role.

There are no answers, only a parents knows what and how much to tell their

child. A friend's 5 yr. wanted to know where he came from. The mother asked

WHY? The kid said he wanted to know if he was born in New York or New

Jersey.

Rosemary in New York with 3 children with CF - they are 12, 10, 6...I coined

the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT " ; and now we have a dog named - are you ready for

this - TOBI after their medication!
