Guest guest
I hope I am not out of line, but I can't imagine that Elaine would rule BREASTFEEDING illegal! It does not make sense to exclude human babies from drinking human milk. There are too many natural substances in human milk to exclude it from a baby's diet. For heaven sakes, what are we supposed to do, feed them formula from birth? That doesn't make sense. Thousands of research studies now show conclusively that formula-fed babies are sicker throughout their entire lives than breastfed babies. Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and on and on ... these are all linked to formula feeding. In addition, there are dozens of gut-protective factors and probiotics in breastmilk. I hope this doesn't get me kicked off the list, but I felt I had to speak up on this topic. My son is 3 and is still nursing. He is allergic to all formulas (including the SCD formula) and would have died without my milk, with me on an allergy-elimination diet. There was no other source of nutrition for him. There are references to lactase on Elaine's website: http://ccgi.cobbler.plus.com/search.php?q=lactase and in BTVC page 77 edition 10 and some previous pages (see index). Although we can use a few drops in whipping cream, other treated milks like Lactaid and Lacteeze are not permitted. You seem to be doing a lot of careful research to answer your quest but I think Elaine went through most of these things over time and stated her parameters. Perhaps she didn't give enough detailed reasons for her decisions but I put a lot of trust in Elaine's protocols. She is one of the few diet authorities I trust. Carol F. Carol F. Guest guest
I'm all for nursing!!!! Isn't Enzymedica's Digest Gold also Legal?... and it has lactase! Agape, Norvell beckeric@...> wrote: Antionette, Hello!! Okay-- Houston enzymes makes an SCD legal enzyme that contains lactase (Zyme Prime) Granted, you also get all the other enzymes in each capsule, too, and it is not a liquid. You could always mix it in water and shoot it in with a syringe before nursing (?) Or maybe check on the Houston website to see if they make a lactase only enzyme? If you do order from them, make sure you get the SCD legal version, there are 2 of the Zyme Prime. And good for you for your dedication to your baby!!! It's hard, I know!! Between my 2 boys, I've been nursing for almost 6 years straight (with a brief break during my 2nd pregnancy). My 1st is ASD and the 2nd is fine, but with food sensitivities. Man, do I miss macaroni and cheese, LOL.!! But eating this way is better for all of us, esp. since I've become intolerant to wheat, too!! hugs, Becky Re: Lactase that is LEGAL for breast feeding infants on SCDiet? Guest guest
Hi guys, I know for a fact that my daughter can not tolerate rice. (we have tried it before and ended up in the hospital with diarrhea that could not be controlled)...I hope that I can get a lactase enzyme especially compounded for her so that we can retain our breast feeding relationship, since human milk is best for infants/toddlers with Celiac Disease. Where do you find HNI Enzymes???? I would like to call them but have no idea how to get a hold of them. Oh, that is great to know! I thought I would have to go buy the different formulas.
