This is great for all babies (SCD or not) for most foods. Regular

storebought carrots however, should not be pureed for young babies. Most

baby raising books recommend against it because of the high levels of

naturally occurring nitrates (or nitrites?) in carrots. Babyfood

companies can test their batches to make sure the levels aren't high.

You could probably google " babyfood, carrots, nitrates " and see what

comes up.

We did the homemade baby food for the kids and carrots were the only

food I used store bought because of this (we weren't doing SCD). I know

it was referenced in the Super Baby Food Diet (which is not a " diet "

book but a reference book on feeding babies healthy, homemade foods). I

gave my copy away, otherwise I could tell you more. It may just be a

cautionary issue, I'm not sure. I recommend looking into it though,

since carrots are the only vegetable on the intro diet. I know we will

be using carrots a lot, but I don't have babies anymore. ;o)

I would assume organic ones would have the same issue. Let me see if I

can find out more about it. I don't want anyone to be too worried, but I

wanted to bring it up since carrots are beginner food on this diet. I

KNOW that I read it in several places though.
