Guest guest
If you tried secretin and it helped, maybe get some HCL, hydrochloric acid tablets/capsules from the health food store or drug store and see if that helps. I read somewhere (maybe in Willis's stuff) that giving the HCL may induce the body to produce secreting. Some people may be deficient in their HCL production. Just giving digestive enzymes will not induce the HCL necessarily if you are deficient in HCL. The enzymes will go ahead and break down the food and is not dependent on HCL. But the HCL may stimulate the production of secretin. If someone is benefitting from secretin in ways that are not related to straightforward food digestion, this may accomplish that, or a little bit of it. It is not nearly as expensive as $600 either (by the way, thanks for the additional information Avril). Since some people are aware of what the benefits of secretin may be which are not produced by their use of enzymes, they would be able to tell the difference. Maybe supplementing with HCL would produce better results than enzymes, so you would not need to buy those either. Another cheap idea would be to give bicarbonate (baking soda) after eating, although this will not prompt more secretin, it may be helpful for general digestion, especially if someone is unsure of starting enzymes. .
