Guest guest
Dear Jody, How do you know this....we have never had food Elisa testing due to not having the money to afford it.....yet will be getting a big tax break in a few weeks and may be able to afford it. Is it worth it....I think it will cost about $500.00/person US dollars to get all of us tested. Didn't Elaine say that some of these problems are likely to " heal " away...anyway....? Or am I misunderstanding her? How do you know if you are really sensitive to cow's milk...or if it's the other factors you guys have taught me about such as: die off reaction, problems with galactose, prob with phenol and this other component that I can not remember right now????? THanks for input...because I am afraid to try it again...son had horrible problems and even got in trouble (due to behavior disruptions) in his music class and complained of not feeling well and " the milk made me sick " he said. I felt miserable yesterday sick feeling physically and depression was compounded....My irritability was back! KiKi had a " mini " night terror/seizure last night (improvement from before but not good). Xena and hubby did OK! Thank you for your input...God Bless your help, Antoinette day 25 entire family (multiple sensitivities (some unknown) and Celiac ,ADD,ADHD, ASD and other neurological probs due to damaged gut. Re:HELP! Trying SCDiet goat yogurt again. " Is it a bad idea to use Lucy's starter with goat milk? " Not necessarily a BAD idea, unless you are really sensitive to cow's milk. It does contain traces of skim milk powder. Guest guest
I am not Jody but, my daughter was just Elisa tested and it really didn't do us much good. Her test results showed that she was not anaphalactically allergic to anything and we tested her for lots of things. It didn't show us what she was sensitive to. We had to figure that out on our own watching her behaviors. I am not a big fan of testing as much of it is unaccurate. Also, if your child eats too much of something, they can develop more allergies/insensitivities etc. What we did was, Kali's GI doc put her on an allergy blocker. It's called Gastrocrom. The child may still react to foods on this med. but, it keeps the inflammation down so healing can take place. Like instead of treating every symptom we come across, we tend to treat her more broadly. Mostly with SCD and probiotics and supplements. You can also check into quercetin & MSM to treat inflammation. Kali's scopes showed esophagitis, acid reflux, and some inflammation. We are so lucky. We know someone who is dying from bowel disease. She is 26 and her parents don't believe in anything but, the maker's diet. The SCD beats that diet over and over. SCd does not allow buttermilk, whey or grains because one cannot heal eating these foods. Although, the Maker's Diet may be perfect for the more advanced healers! Enough about other diets, this is not the greatest place to bring them up but, I just wanted to let you know that SCD is our #1 healer so far as well as God himself who sent me to one of the moderator's here! Hope this helps a bit. Jenn & K 10 months SCD ----- Original Message ----- To: pecanbread > Sent: Friday, March 17, 2006 8:29 AM Subject: Re: Re:HELP! Guest guest
Oftentimes an elimination diet is the most effective way to determine what foods someone cannot tolerate. If you start SCD with the intro diet and add foods slowly, you get the best information what is and is not tolerated by each individual. In your case, it is tough because you are attempting to track 5 different people. It's not easy, I know, but it is the most effective. Guest guest
> > So I take it we should keep our 500.00 per person (family of five) and buy groceries! > It's your decision, Antoinette. Elaine was not as familiar with autism as some on the list b but that was her opinion and she was infuriated by the fees charged for these tests. I had some of them and they were useless as I decided to follow the diet and would have had to do that anyhow. The only supplements I was prescribed were calcium for bone loss (proved needless in a recent study) accompanied by Vitamin D and Magnesium. I discontined all but the recomended Freda Vitamins. The naturopath, on the other hand had an entire magician's bag of supplement tricks to suggest and by a coincidennce you could buy them all directly from her. Carol F.
