(long post) To: rosacea-support-owner Hi, Has anyone tried Mercier's cleanser? I bought some after trying a sample for about 4 days which is usually long enough for me. Lets put this into perspective. I haven't bought a department store cleanser or moisturiser in about 4 years so it was a big leap for me. I was just tired of spending so much money and not getting anywhere. I was diagnosed with rosacea about 4 years ago and then after 2 years I went to another derm who diagnosed me with seb derm only. Needless to say i spent another year confused and pissed off since nothing I used for seb derm helped at all. I have since decided that my skin is very sensitive and that whether it is seb derm that makes my face red and flakey or rosacea alone or a combo of both, I should just be very gentle with my skin. So, I am always on the lookout for the right cleanser. I feel like I have tried them all and finally settled on Huggies Baby wipes because they are gentle and didn't aggravate the flakeys and seemed to settle the red. But...they don't clean very well if you are wearing makeup. I am not wearing makeup every day anymore so it is Ok. However, I found the Mercier cleanser during a makeover special at a department store in Sydney. Mercier was there too. I mentioned to the makeup artist that I had rosacea and she said Oh will want to talk to you. So we chatted for awhile and I deflected as much of the product spiel as possible. She said her cleanser is better than Cetaphil. And I thought that wouldn't be hard, Cetaphil was crap for my skin - even the bar. So I thought well its worth a try and took a sample of the cleanser, moisturiser and tinted moisturiser. After the event i went racing to the bookstore and checked out a Begouns review of Merciers products. Hmmm - lots of smiley faces and definitely one for the cleanser. Well it gets alot of smiley faces from me too. The main surfactant is extremely mild and far down the list - ammonium laureth sulphate. I have also tried the moisturiser with spf 15, it is also good. I usually get the flakeys from moisturiser or sunscreen. The only problem for me is that it is all fairly expensive however if it works I shouldn't complain. I hope my info has helped someone. I don't have the ingredients list for the cleanser, sorry I chucked the box and a list isn't on the website. i was also wondering if anyone has tried a new a Begoun product called Skin Relief treatment containing aspirin. The ingredients list is small - Deionized Water, Acetylsalicylic Acid, L-Ascorbic Acid, Epilobium Angustifolium (Willowherb) Extract, Camelia Oleifera (Green Tea), Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA. She claims that it helps reduce redness from blemished, contact dermatitis and minor skin irritations. I may try this when it gets to Australia. Anyway, take care everyone.
