Guest guest
I know that I'll get hate mail over this, but I use Elocon once a month. Maybe it's harmful, but I figure it's 1/60th times better than using it twice a day, every day. On the first day of my period (SORRY, MEN!!) my face is broken out with pustules and unbearably itchy. One application on damp skin gets it back to " normal " rosacea skin. Don't, I repeat, don't try this at home. Never do this. I feel like I should be punished for ever doing such an awful thing to my face. No long term effects on me, though, the above is still bad. Further warning, use only hydrocortisone or aclovate on the face to prevent atrophy. Higher class corticosteroids on the face are forbidden. Use mincocyline, zithromax, or accutane, or god forbid, even gold bond (look to snoskiman about this), but stay away from steroids. Use sulfacet-r, which is fast acting and masks redness due to its tint, even though it is comedogenic -- because the Na Sulfacetamide negates the comedogenicity of sulfur somewhat. > I know that long-term use of steroids is bad for rosaceans--the skin > becomes thinner or something like that--but I was wondering whether > people thought it would also be a bad idea to use steroidal cream to > clear up residual redness and swelling just, say, once every three > months? > > And if anyone has used steroids on rosacea, I'd love to hear how long > it took to clear redness, whether it reduced swelling (esp. on the > nose) or what the long-term effects were for them.
