Guest guest
Hello All, I'm new to the group. After having chronic 'D' for apprx five years, I was diagnosed with Crohn's about a year ago and found the most signifcant improvement to my condition via removing refined flour and sugar. In an effort to finish the healing process, I have recently started the full-on SCD diet. I am merging it with the basic principals of Nourishing Traditions lifestyle and the theraputic guidance of a homeopath. Knock on wood, I'm finally beginning to have what resembles 'normal' bowel movements. Which brings me to my question, is nutritional yeast allowed? I've been taking apprx 1 tbs of the Red Star brand in with yogurt smoothies to get the extra B vitamins. I look forward to learning more about this group. Thanks,

Here's an encouraging word. My son, 13 with Crohns, saw great progress on SCD. I think I'm a pretty good cook, and that what I've prepared for his has been really tasty, but SCD is hard for a teenager who's a picky eater to boot. A motivated adult should do really well. As for vitamins, check out Freeda vitamin's SCD line. They have a great B complex. You can contact them directly via the 800 number in the back of BTVC - it's current. take care, Fay
Guest guest
Thank you Fay, Sheila and Brent.. I'll quit using the nutritional yeast. I have been looking at the Freeda B-complex and multi. There is a good chance I will be ordering from them soon.. before the price of almond flour goes up again. I haven't strayed very far away from the program.. but I am finding it difficult; all the planning and food prep. I wasted nearly two pounds of almond flour this past weekend when a batch of scones didn't turn out and a tray of cookies burned. And then the bacon I made that I got from the farm tasted funny too.. ahh, that was so frustrating. The books says to approach the diet with fanatical resolve and I am trying.. reading and having an firm understanding of why I'm doing what I am goes a long way. It goes as far as the little 'sweet' things like cookies will help me get through it. Are there very many adults doing the SCD on this list? > HI . > Here's an encouraging word.
