Seems like the docs at U of M cannot help my sis. No SOD

dysfunction. SO now they are giving her elavil for pain. Her pain

was not even being controlled by morphine, or anything else they

have given her very well. How is this gonna help honestly? OH, and

she has to wait a month to see if it will work. Any opinions? I know

that this can help some with pain, but I highly doubt it will do

much good as bad as I have seen her doubling over. Sigh.

Elavil does help magnify pain meds, but I have never heard

of it used as a pain killer on it's own for anything but

neuropathy pain and migraine pain (I take it for those two

reasons). I personally haven't noticed it magnifiying my

pain meds, but that only because I was taking Elavil before

I started taking pain medications. It is usually used in

conjunction with a narcotic to cover pain such as the

pancreatic pain we get.
