Guest guest
Hi all, well the struggle begins another day. Anyone out there working on what causes this awful skin condition and more importantly, any one near a CURE or how about effective treatment. My skin is more towards the oily side and although I was first diagnosed about 13 years ago, I still do not get the pimples or the bumps or any great amount of redness or burning, but I get surface inflammation in the form of dehydrated skin. I can't seem to use any of the topicals ( metros, or Noritate ) since they all seem to make the inflammation worse. Even when I use Vita-oil before applying the rx topicals. In fact, I suspect that the vita-oil ( probably one of the vitamins ) inflames my skin. When I was just using the vita-oil, I could see my skin getting flakier and flakier as each day of use passed. at the time, I thought that it was not moisturizing enough but now I think that I have to realize that the flakes were really inflammation. What do you think ? and the the biggest question of all what can I use on my face to moisturize yet not cause inflammation. I was having great luck with the new a Begoun stuff called Skin recovery. Got about a month of use and then, my skin reacted with a flury of dehydrated patches and that uncomfortable feeling that we all recognize when our skin is not happy. What do you think about using soap on this type of skin? My skin never feels quite clean when I use milky type cleansers and gel ones seem to be very stripping. I know that you must be tired of hearing these same old questions over nad over again, but I truly need ot hear your answers. As long as I have one more thing to try, one more question to ask, I can cope. Thanks for all your help and encouragement. I don't know what I would do if I did not have this forum. Take care
Guest guest
I tend to have a very oily t-zone with my rosacea and my last flare- up was just as you described only with lots of bumps. And, I totally agree with you on the not-clean feeling from most " sensitive skin " cleansers. I'm having great success using Estee Lauder foaming face wash for normal/oily skin. It's a gentle cream cleanser that is non- drying and non-irritating and it really cleans. I've been using it for at least 6 months and I love it. Also look into some type of non- alcohol toner to remove the last vestiges of the cleanser and make- up. That seems to help, too. I like NY Calm and Correct toner. Oh, yeah, I use an Aveda face chamois. It's a ultra-soft non- abrasive wash-cloth type of thing. It's very nice. I also stopped using moisturizer and started using jojoba oil and that calmed the inflammation and oddly enough reduced the oiliness of my t-zone so there's no more puffery. Maybe the other ingredients in the Vita Oil are irritating you and plain jojoba might do the trick? If you're not willling to try that, the only thing I have had success with is Estee Lauder Calming Fluid, but it's quite expensive at $65 a bottle. It has the consistancy of water so it's quite light and the Verity line is designed for rosacea skin (although I didn't like the cleanser or toner as it left my skin feeling sticky.) Hope that helps and hang-in there, it'll get better, remember to drink lots of water! > Hi all, well the struggle begins another day.
