Trudy,

I am not from N.C. but did have the pleasure of spending a week there.

I spent a day at the Museum of Life and Science. It is only about 2 blocks

from the hospital. They have a hyge butterfly house. It is very humid in

there because they havve tropical butterflies and plants. However, they

have benches that are air conditioned that you can sit on and watch the

butterflies. The cost is $8 per adult. They have a website

www.ncmls.org I was also advised to check out the primate house at

Duke University but never did get there. We found the Durham phone book has

a good map of the area and we used that to get around. There is a

welcome/visitors center in downtown Durham with more info of things to do.

I had my 19 year old daughter with me so we spend a good amount of time

shopping. Enjoy, we did.
