our son, is doing much better too. He was addicted to corn

syrup...yet at the time we didn't realize what was happening. I

read in an autism book that these kids could become addicted to

Katchup! We would buy the extra large economy size...and where also

going through gallons of juice a week...I have to admit I was part

of this " addiction " ...all of us where. Our son also has shown signs

of very mild ASD (delerium like episodes especialy in the middle of

the night...can't recognize us....lost....doctors called it " night

terrors!) He also had HIGH irritability, thre tantrums all the

time, couldn't sit still, concentrate, ran around in a mad craze

after dinner (at the time usualy high in corn syrup!) and even tore

out the hair...almost scalp and all from his friend next door at the

age of two years old! Needless to say our " bully " was not well

liked at pree school or by many. EVERYONE BLAMED HIS PARENTS....of

course. When he was diagnosed with Celiac Disease it all began to

make since...those kids have behvaior issuses also yet the GLUTEN

FREE diet DID NOT WORK...he has Dermatitis Herpetiformis...horrible

red blistery rash that was misdiagnosed as " eczema " . Everytime he

hate a traceof gluten he got this horrible painful rash right on his

bottom and lower back...very painful. We went GF ann CF did not

work either...finnaly pulled him out of school due to always eating

foods he shouldn't and being " punished " for being a " bad " kid...I

knew that he was not a " bad " kid...eventhough have to admit was

sucked into yelling at him...and even resorted to

spanking...something I swore I would never do. Anybody knows that

with these kids...when you don't know what is going on this is easy

to become " abusive " and too firm with these " high Needs " drive you

crazy kids! I have regrets...but we didn't know.

Today no more running around, no more bully behavior, the lock is

off the pantry door and refrigerator patrol no longer has to happen!

No more uncontrolable cravings, pain in the butt behavior " bad "

behavior...he is at peace for the first time in his life...he told

me " I love you mommy " and at the grocery store a lady commited that

she felt sorry for our kids...she noticed no cookies, pop, candy in

our SCD cart... said " I don't like feeling sick anymore...my

friends are going to die from eating Mcs, I don't want them to

die....but they like it, like I use to...I don't want to be sick

anymore..... " the lady's face just look at him like he was from

MARS! I have never told him this about Mc s (other than it

being " bad " for you). Before diagnosed with Celiac Dec 2004 we were

all Mc 's/Fast food JUNKIES! (Ki Ki his baby sister had

developed severe failure to thrive and was only 7 months old)...out

of the mouth of BABES Only four years old ant this SMART about

food...I trust that all our kids are going to be smarter eating SCD!

How can they not!

Just this morning I was talking to him about how he use to be and he

told me that: " My BRAIN Made me do it! " .......this explaines

alot.....he told us this before (many times before....) but we were

so " addicted " ourselves having the adult version of " tantrums "

and " rage attacks " from these foods that we did not understand

him...now WE do! I look forward to being a more " functional "

family...raised abused myself...I am glad to know ONE of the reasons

to why. I now know that my entire family has this problem...yet they

can not hear me (maybe too adicted themselves?. My rage and

irritability is vanishing! He is still a little moody though and

cries easy now.....I look forward to continued success in all of

us....we have a long way to go! Thank you ELAINE! Sorry so long

but had a lot to share!

Antoinette (ENTIRE FAMILY SCD day 17/Celiac, ASD, ADHD, multiple

sensitities and allergyies...plus Dermatitis Herpetiformis)
