Guest guest
" it seems as if many of use who have rosacea also have problems with sebderm. Just wondering if there is a connection between the two. One seems sebum related and the other vascular?? " Ok, here is my completely, 100% UNINFORMED opinion. This is JUST my Theory, and could be WAY out in left field. Its possible that they are both caused or at least worsened by dry skin, as dry skin seems to be a symptom of both (even sometimes when the skin is so dry it becomes oily, or something weird like that, that I dont completely understand). However, my Best guess, is that in many people, Seborrheic Dermatitis is actually caused by the medications we take to control our cea. Let me explain (Again this is only my theory) I have read in several places that the yeast Pitysprorum Ovale is implicated in at least some way in the condition Seborrheic Dermatitis. Many of us take antibiotics such as Minocycline to control our cea. Long-term antibiotic use kills certain bacteria that are in direct competition with yeast. As the bacteria are killed off, the yeast in our body is allowed to overgrow. This overgrowth of yeast contributes to, or causes Seborrheic Dermatitis. I know this isnt the case all the time, but this is a theory I have as far as why these two conditions are often seen together. I'd be interested in knowing what anyone else thinks about this. Guest guest
--- In rosacea-support@y..., " Becky Wattenbach " I don't know if what I had was seb derm, because i don't have it anymore. But someone mentioned a connection with dry skin. Before I had photoderm, I was using the limited disks, which were not right for me, and my skin became very dry. That is when I started to notice flakes of skin around the eyebrows and my cheeks and nose. It wasn't that bad. I stopped using the disks and began photoderm, and my face became even more dry and red. My skin was constantly flaking. Now 6 months post photoderm the flakiness is gone, but also my skin is much less dry; even though I am undergoing V beam. I think the Osmotics kinetin moisturizer has also helped the dryness. I don't know anything about seb derm, and no derm ever told me I had it, but I was getting the flakes with the dry skin.
