Hi Claire,

Hope you are holding your own (food in, that is). Did I read somewhere that

drinking with food is not advised? Could that be why you tolerated the HC by

itself but not in combo with other things?

An update on our quest for surgery for our 16-yr-old daugher Chris:

Our insurance co (Cigna) has received our appeal package and have responded

that the process will be complete by 7-7. So, we are in a holding pattern

ourselves. In the meantime, we will go ahead and send her for her summer

weight-loss camp in Mass, as she has been really looking forward to returning

this year. The wheels turn slowly......

Hi All,

Today wasn't the best food day for Ms. Claire. :(

I tried Taco Bell for the first time since long before surgery. Had their

49

cent Nacho Supreme (cheap date lol). They tasted a bit greasy but okay

going

down. But I wasn't home for 20 minutes before they came right back up.

Yuck!

Earlier we went out for lunch with my Stepkids to Cracker Barrel. I ordered

a pork chop, hashbrown casserole, cottage cheese, corn bread and hot

chocolate. Well, the pork chop was great. ate my cottage cheese and

after looking at my hashbrown casserole I wasn't interested in it. I really

enjoyed my cornbread and hot chocolate, but apparently the feeling wasn't

mutual. We did'nt get out of the restaurant before those two came up.

I know this is a gross subject, but since " barfing " sort of seems the

subject

of the week (hee hee) I thought I'd share (sorry...) Maybe this will be

helpful to some of the preops at any rate. For me, throwing up post surgery

is not at all like throwing up pre surgery. It has always been the worst

feeling in the world to me, but generally speaking it doesn't involve the

same retching that it did pre-surgery. Now, I may be the only postop with

this experience, but there definitely is a difference.

Since surgery, if I eat too much I generally just throw that up and then

feel

fine. If I eat something that my tummy doesn't like (like the hot chocolate

and corn bread mixed) only that comes up, but everything else stays. It's

so

weird. I had hot chocolate on our day cruse in Alaska and had no problem

with it. Since then I've tried several times to have it with something else

and got sick every time. Very weird.

With all that said, I'll continue experimenting when something seems

appealing and hope for the best. Generally speaking most foods I've tried

sit quite well with me, so I count myself as blessed.

Sorry for such a gross topic. Someone tell me it helped them okay? Yeah,

even if you have to lie to me okay? < >

Dear Claire,

Your story did help me tremendously. (I am not lying either)

As far as subject matter goes, hey, I had two little brothers. I

think I have seen it and heard it all...LOL I didn't think we would

be 'able'(unless you 'barf') to eat so much or such a variety of

food! I keep thinking I will be on a liquid diet for a LONG time

after the surgery. Thanks for the info. PS I still LOVE how you

sign the end of your notes.

Love,

Love is very patient and kind...

It's probably the vitamins . . . .

I know a lot of my skin is taking on the texture of really

lumpy large-lump cottage cheese, particularly the thighs,

stomach, and butt. I'm bidding on about a gross of

, Tae Bo, Powter, Rock Hard Abs,

Buns of Steel (YEAH! That's me!), etc. work-out

tapes over on eBay. The regimen must soon begin in

earnest or else I'll *really* look like that sharpei

picture someone passed around earlier (gosh that was

cute.)

Hey, they don't have a Sharpei Barbie yet, either. Hahaha!

I can see it now, complete with her own doghouse and T-bone.

Hi Debbie,

Yes that could be part of the problem as well.

I'll keep your daughter in my prayers. I'm glad she's looking forward to

camp this year. Any weight she can get off before surgery will certainly

I'll keep your daughter in my prayers. I'm glad she's looking forward to
