Guest guest
Hi All - I'm just going to say a quick thanks here to everyone who gave me a helping hand last week while I was " crossing over to the other side " ...especially JANET ARMOUR...who made a special trip to the airport to pick up my hubby and bring him to the hospital so he could be there in time to hold my hand before I went in for surgery. (And GENZ - because I know you put her up to it!!) Janet, Trish, Genz, Darlene, , Marti, even Debbie and Barbara who had better things to be doing - and everyone else that I met at clinic on 6/6/00 - who all helped me to calm down after I started scaring myself with my second-guessing and doubts. I haven't been in a hospital since birth, and the most experience I've had with surgery is a root canal and then all of a sudden it really hit me that I was going to be unconscious and having surgery in less than 24 hours! (Also - I had to travel to Durham alone from New York which didn't help the stress level.) SO - for the first few minutes of clinic on Tuesday morning I was quietly having a nervous breakdown until these wonderful women came to my rescue! I can't say enough about how funny, charming, empathatic, understanding, lovely, warm and just generally wonderful these people were. I'm sad now that I can't see you all more often, because I just know it would be so much fun, and I know how much I'm missing out!!!!!! Anyway - now it's four days after surgery and I feel GREAT - and I can't believe that I've finally STOPPED THE MADNESS as the bald woman on TV is always saying. I can't say more right now because I've got to go back to work in the morning and I have to unpack, etc., but thanks again to all of you who stopped to give me moral support, hand- holding, a shoulder to lean on, and for being so great to this stranger from New York in general...I'll never forget your kindness!!!! Love to you all, M. MGB 6-7-00 - no idea how much I've lost yet!
