Guest guest
Well, went for our first clinic since discharge today. Wow...3 hours at the clinic! Anyhow, she's done well. She's gained 1.5 pounds (800 grams) since she got admitted (the nutritionist didn't have the weight she was when she left the hospital...which was less than when she went in, anyhow.) They said that's about 3x what they expected her to gain! So we're supposed to keep on feeding her like we do. Her enzymes got changed, too, because of the weight gain and because she's having more poops than they want her to per day. Her lungs are clear, and her runny nose is just a runny nose. So no problem on that score. They measured her chest, and it was 20.5 inches. I about fell out of my chair. I made the nurse measure it again just to make sure, since this was up from 18.5 inches a month ago. So, we get to order a vest, and they expect us to have it in a couple of months. YAY! Boy, she was not amused about being back at the hospital, though...whew! We hit the lobby and she started hollering " Pick me up! Pick me up! Mommy! " I kept having to reassure her that we weren't getting admitted. And I kept having to tell her she was just going to have to walk. I can only hold her for a while before my back starts giving out, and I had the diaper bag (she wears pull-ups, but " training pantie bag " just sounds funny) on my shoulder already, and it's not exactly light. Besides, it's good exercise for her. She eventually fell asleep in the doctor's office. I was right...he's one we haven't met before. He's a nice doctor, though, and is apparently going to be her long-term doctor. We already knew the rest of our team. So all in all, a very good visit. Still don't know about the genetic results. I forgot about them completely while we were there, and didn't think about them until I had called my mom-in-law to tell her about the visit, and she asked me about the genetic testing. By that time, all the docs had gone home for the day. Oops. Oh well, one day isn't going to make or break anything on that front. BEV: I received my Wash Your Hands buttons in the mail today. Thanks you! Shanna mom of Triana, age 2 wcf
