Guest guest
Anybody that has had steroid induced rosacea, what course of treatment did you pursue, for how long, and how effective was it? Does everybody have permanent skin damage from the steroid rosacea or do some people go back to having " normal " skin? For those that used Protopic, what kind of dosing regimen did you use and for how long? I was just diagnosed with rosacea a week ago....been using desonide on an increasing basis in the past year, and am searching for what my options are. My dermatologist prescribed oral erythromycin, topical metrocream, and 2 1/2 percent hydrocortisone, and I don't want to use a topical steroid any longer whatsoever....will be getting a second opinion as soon as I can. I'd like to hear your two cents, if you've already been down this road, please! thanks, Theresa
Guest guest
I used a steroid cream for 6 years, twice a day. My doctor told me it was something that i could use for the rest of my life and that it would never hurt me. Famous last words. I have said this before here, but I'll say it again. My life has never been the same since the day that I stopped the steroid cream. My face hurt so badly that I couldn't put my face on the pillow for one minute. I could not have one emotion, even happiness, without my face burning and throbbing. I could not get hot or sweat or exercise. I could not eat any foods that were not completely bland. The only thing that I was able to use, initially, was Novacet. I tried the metros and a few other things. Even with the Novacet my face was far from perfect, but it was greatly improved. Still red and dry and sore, but not filled with bumps or rashes. As long as i stayed home and didn't laugh, cry, get embarrassed or put myself in any stressful situation, I could survive. Not live, just survive. I have had 6 Versapulses and 11 photoderms. Yes, they helped a lot. The Versapulse helped with the veins that were all over my face after i stopped the cream. It took away some of them. The photoderms were even better, at least the first 6 were. I had a great doctor and I feel that when I find another competent doctor, I will have more success. Just last week I tried Noritate again. I have never been able to use it before. It is working SO well for me. My face is great. Without the photoderm, I would never be able to use Noritate. It took away so much of my sensitivity. I am thrilled. I'm sorry this is so long, but I know that when people ask for help with their steroid induced rosacea, they want to hear from people. It is very, very scary. I can say that I did not want to live at one time. But, with photoderm and noritate, I feel more hope now then I have since I stopped the steroid cream. Any help I can be to anyone, I am happy to do whatever I can. Ann
