several questions

Hi all,

I am soon to start the SCD for my son. I have a few questions.

Are pork rinds legal?

Would he need a probiotic? He does not have any bowel trouble.

He has been using Freeda Calcium Carbonate powder. Is that legal?

Is there a recipe for eggless icing?

Is there a legal brand of vanilla I can find at Whole Foods?

I tried to research as much of this as possible.

Thanks in advance

Welcome Sue,

Yes, plain with salt only are legal. Some have found that their

picky kids fixated on these when they started the diet and refused

other legal foods. They are legal but should be used in moderation.

You don't have to use a probiotic, but they can be helpful for

anybody not just those with bowel issues.

What are the ingredients?

I make icing by whipping together butter, honey and legal vanilla.

If dairy free you could substitute coconut butter/oil or ghee. This

recipe is like the butter icing I used to make preSCD and has

received rave reviews from all my friends.

> Is there a legal brand of vanilla I can find at Whole Foods?

Frontier is a legal brand that I have heard mentioned.

This sounds like a little dip I've been making for nuts (with ghee). Do

you cook it at all, or just whip it together?

I only grind my own almonds when I want the skin on. This is no advisable at the

start of

the diet. The blanched almond flour is more digestible.
