Did anyone see the Today Show this morning? They interviewed this couple who

won 4 mil with an instant scratch lotto ticket from MA. I saw only the very

beginning and then missed the end of it. Well, the wife has CF. Anyone know

the story? My girlfriend called me and said she had a Lung TX this past

year.

The woman's name is Harrington. She had her lung transplant 12

years ago due to CF. Here is the story.

couple. Harrington and his wife, , have won $4 million

in

the 30th Anniversary Spectacular instant Lottery game, a ten-dollar game

that

debuted last month. , 49, and , 48, arrived at Lottery

headquarters late Monday afternoon to claim the prize. They will collect

$200,000 annually for 20 years. They brought home their first check

said he bought the lucky ticket Sunday afternoon while buying a

newspaper at the L’il Peach convenience store on Lowell Street in

Wakefield.

When he scratched the $4 million prize, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“That

was the best Sunday Boston Globe I ever bought,†he kidded.

called his wife from the store to share the good news, but she

didn’t

believe him. He then handed the phone to the clerk who said, “Mrs.

Harrington, I am holding the ticket, he’s not lying.†The L’il Peach will

collect a $40,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Wakefield. is employed as an administrative assistant at

Burton, CPA & Co, also in Wakefield. The couple has two sons, ,

and , 20. The Harringtons say they will continue to work. “I

haven’t

been able to grasp this,†said. “I’m just amazed.â€

Harrington, a Cystic Fibrosis survivor, says she made history

twelve years ago when she became the first double-lung transplant

recipient

at Massachusetts General Hospital. says he will use some of his

prize

money to pay off some of her remaining medical bills. He will also use

some

of the money to cover ’s college tuition at UMass Lowell and to do

some work around the house. “This winter, the contractor’s house is

getting

remodeled,†said, adding that his wife will get an item on her

wish

list as well. “She’s already picked out her new sewing machine,†he said.

The 30th Anniversary Spectacular, launched last month to commemorate the

Lottery’s 30th Anniversary, offers an 80 percent prize pay-out, including

50

prizes of $1 million and 10 prizes of $4 million. So far, six $1 million

prizes and four $4 million prizes have been claimed. The odds of winning

$4

million are 1: 7,560,000.
