Guest guest
Hi all, My husband noticed a metallic/sulfur smell on my 6 yr old son. He has been SCD for two weeks. Could this be some type of chelation going on? He was tested for mercury poisoning and it was negative. Thanks Sue 6 yr old son, APD? Guest guest
Hi Sue, I would say that your guess is most likely correct. It would appear that he is chelating on his own because of SCD. I have been informed that SCD does chelate an individual over time. When the body gets the nutrition it needs, it's ability to repair itself returns. It is remarkable that it has returned to him so soon though. He must be a good excreter which is very much in his favor. Embrace the horrid aroma! He is healing! We are chelating my infant with chelators, and the metallic odor in stool and body are signs that the metals are there. It may not be mercury, it may be some other ones. What test did you have done for the mercury? A consensus position paper written on metal toxicity by the " think tank " of the Autism Research Institute states that blood, hair, and unprovoked urine are NOT good ways to test for exposure to infantile mercury (which is when most of our kids' primary exposure occurred). The results of these tests are not accurate for various reasons. It recommends that provocation testing (urine and stool tests done after a " chelation challenge " ) and possibly antibody testing are the best methods for accurate results. Are these one of the methods that you did for your mercury test? When you reply, I suppose it should be as an OT since we may not be talking about SCD anymore. Or you can e-mail me personally, if you have more questions about chelation. Congratulations! This is a blessing for your family! Last year I adopted a tiny dog on a diet of kibble and canned food. I was severely allergic to him until i switched him to grain free raw food and a probiotic supplement powder, After one month I could bury my nose in his fur and he is thriving free of grain and preservatives.
