For those of you who look to God, please pray for me, my aunt and uncle, and my cousin . is 7 and is severely autistic. I have only seen them once since we discovered Elijah is ASD (I did not tell them) and have not seen them since SCD and the drastic improvements he has made. My family does not talk about difficult subjects and when GFCF came up before my aunt and uncle just couldn't believe that food could effect behavior. I know I have to have a conversation with them. I'm convinced that SCD could do wonders for especially since my uncle has IBS problems (I don't know the extent) and has been loosing weight over the years. So of course he should be on it too! I just don't know how to start or where...If you have advice for me it is welcomed. This kind of thing is really hard for me. It is another exercise for me to rest and trust in my Lord. Thank you!!! Dear , I can't help you with the carrot chips, but maybe if they question your " sanity " and reasoning nicely and calm assertivily tell them to read Elains book. I tend to give people little bits and pieces about my own son's interventions and improvements (we use DAN approach/Dr. and are transitioning from GFCF to SCD). I try not to push what I think in terms of telling parents what THEY should do for THEIR child, but give them enough food for thought that they usually start asking me about what I did so they can apply it. I usually recommend websites and books too. Becky mom to Noah (6, HFA) and (3, NT) SCD start date 3/6/

Guest guest
Hi , > I am trying to get ready for my daughter's SCD, CF, Egg Free, and Nut Free (other restrictions due to severe *true* allergy) birthday party next Saturday!!! I made carrot chips in my new Fry Daddy today. I was wondering how long they can stay crisp and how to store them. Read: I NEED to start preparing NOW! If I were to make them for the party, how far AHEAD of time can make them? The carrot chip pictures on the website (along side the recipe) are from my daughter's birthday party. I peeled the carrots and sliced them (in food processor) the night before. I put them in a covered bowl in the fridge. I fried them up in the morning on the day of the party. We also had cut up vegetables and dip. Since you are dairy and egg free you may be able to use a cream soup recipe as a dip. (some soup recipes on pecanbread.com ) Just use less liquid and more cooked vegetable to make it thicker. At 's bday party last year I had sliced ripe bananas, peeled sliced apples (I let one of the moms peel and slice during the party) and a caramel dip. You may be able to make a dip with homemade applesauce flavoured with cinnamon and a little honey - pureed until very smooth. > P.S. For those of you who look to God, please pray for me, my aunt and uncle, and my cousin . is 7 and is severely autistic. I'll pray you and your family. To start you could simply say how Elijah has improved since changing his diet. If they are interested you can help them get started. They may be too overwhelmed right now, but if you plant the seed.... Sheila
