Hi...this is Debbie the lurker from Virginia. I'm taking the liberty of

responding as I officially came out of hiding last night at Amy's meeting,

:-)

It was a lovely time. Amy and her husband are very gracious and wonderful

hosts. They opened their home to strangers and friends alike. I immediately

felt very comfortable, even tho this whole thing of meeting strangers from a

mailing list was a huge stretch for me! We sat on their beautiful deck and

talked MGB till almost dark. I confess, that I attended as one still

somewhat *on the fence* regarding the MGB vs rny. I'm an RN, and sometimes

it's a little hard to take new *albeit wonderfully improved* things medically

and feel good about them right away. I have been denied wls due to a written

exclusion with my insurance (ironclad). After I was denied, I found this

site, and have been mesmerized since. So I decided to go to Amy's as I live

near Richmond, VA, and it was fairly close. Well! I'm no longer on the

fence! I have decided to take my husband's advice (he has been just shaking

his head all this time in bewilderment at why I would even consider rny over

MGB) and apply for the MGB after July 1, when I hear a new law goes into

effect here in VA requiring coverage for WLS. After seeing Amy and the

others and how wonderful they look and feel, and act, I'm convinced! We

talked very candidly about a lot of things, and this is one fence sitter

that's jumped to the MGB side!

I can only thank Amy for her hospitality and her desire to push the MGB cause

that I've changed my mind. I can't wait to start the healthy part of my

life!

Hi Debbie: I'm Flo and was supposed to be there and couldn't come. I

wish I could have. The next meeting is here and I hope that you'll be

able to come. We spend a good bit of time in Richmond with friends

(Midlothian) and they're about an hour and a half from my house so I

hope you'll come! It will be August, so maybe by then you'll be a post-op!
