Lynn,

I had two acute attacks in March and April of 2001. After the

second attack they did a CT-scan and discovered one

psuedocyst the size of a grapefruit and several smaller ones.

You can read about it at:

http://www.pancassociation.org/ourstories.html#Heidi

The largest pseudocyst was partially drained and then they were

all left to resolve on their own. This was a year and a half ago. I

developed chronic pancreatitis as a result, and this will most

likely be the same for your husband. My pseudocysts have all

resolved down to 3 cm. or less at the last check. CT-scans are

done every 4-6 months to check their progress.

Since I developed chronic pancreatitis, I don't think you could call

that a full " recovery " , but I do feel that I have been fortunate to be

doing well now with the minimum of pain episodes, and the

minimum of necessary narcotics. I follow a strict low fat diet,

take the antioxidant therapy daily for chronic pancreatitis, take

enzyme supplements with all my meals and snacks, abstain

from any alcohol and remember to drink plenty of water. I figure

my commitment to all of these preventative measures have

helped to keep me out of the hospital and emergency room for

the last year and a half.

Please feel free to post again if you have any more specific

questions.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi

Wel, I was never on a ventilator but I did spend several days in the ICU and

was on oxegon. I have had two pseudocysts. One just went away after fasting

and prayer by my whole family and the second one had to be drained but I am

at home now and feeling good for today. I believe prayer and trusting in

Heavenly Father is where the hope and healing come from, if it is his will.

Sincerely

Myrna

My husband was admitted in July with Acute Pancreatitis then he

seemed to recover. He was admitted at the and of Aug. again with the

same thing, now he is in ICU on a ventilator and has a pseudocyst the

size of a baseball. Has anyone out there recovered from anything

like this?

I can give you a first hand assurance that recovery from a

pseudocyst, that size, IS possible.

My wife had a similar sized pseudocyst earlier this year. After

numerous hospital stays the surgeon successfully drained it and

subsequent scans, since, showed the blighter had shrunk.

Dear Lynn, I fully understand the anguish you are going through and

my thoughts are with you.

Chris.
