Guest guest
Hi guys, Thought I would ask the groups if they could offer suggestion of what I should be asking the DAN doctor we all see April 26...it seems like a year from now...but he was busy and the only one availiable in my town. KiKi is getting better by the day...today she said " ball " after finding one on the floor and brining it to he Daddy to show thim the " ba " . There is no doubt that we are on the right track and I do not doubt for a minute that this SCDIET is not the right plan for us. This is the only thing that makes since to us. In the last three weeks I have had to gain enough humility to put aside other research from the last year/before taking Elaine's message to heart.....no one could help us until now....I was desperate for any answers I could get.......as two scared parents we where on our own before this list serve....no doctor had advice (yet lucky enough to find ones that would work with us and look into things with us... I am self educated about this after reading countless books and having many prayers for help answered....and realize that you guys know much more than me/us and that as parents we have so much to learn from all of you in learning how to heal ourselves and our sick children. It is very frightening to see one self go from 230lbs down to 124 and not be intentionaly dieting and at that eating 3000 calories a day and still be loosing!.....and then to make matters worse see your baby starving too and slip into ASD related symptoms and your son be labeled ADHD....for apperently no reason the doctors could tell why....nor did some of them act like they cared. Too many couldn't help us....too many had no answers.....thank you for being here! Today we are on 3 weeks and two days...by the time we see this Dan it will be over two months on SCDiet....I suspect we will be feeling much better by then....will he still be helpful? Has anybody have experience treating ASD with just diet and with no DAN as help? Is this even wise....? I am willing to do anything for my kids/self/family...but after what we have been through the last year with ill informed doctors...don't want to waste time money and patience on a meeting with a doctor that might be a " waste " of time. I do not want to medicate my kid's, and do not know what these DAN doctors are about. It is my hope that they rely mostly on diet. Been to DAN web sites and got scared. Guest guest
Who do you have an appointment with? Perhaps someone on the list has experience with the particular doctor. I will say that our DAN! doctor is not quick to prescribe medication, but does so when medically needed. I have been very, very pleased with our DAN! doctor. As for whether there is more than can be done besides diet, that will depend on your individual needs. It is possible that there are other issues that could improve with supplements. Then again, it could be that diet will be enough for your family. Most DAN! doctor runs Organic Acid Tests and stool tests. Oftentimes, thyroid function is considered as well as viral issues, etc. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
