Guest guest
I have posted my daughter's progress sometimes because SCD is totally fabulous as far as straightening her out enough to drop the meds for sleep and behaviors. She is now 90% potty-trained during the day and we have been cooking away for only 8 months. Knowing how well this diet works is proven through the stories of progression. It's only natural to want to tell your supporters wonderful news. I'm all ears as I have been through the beginning and do know how hard it can be but, also beyond rewarding! That's wonderful to hear that the diet has helped you so much. > I mention this, because I read a query that someone posted recently whether > emotional problems due to the gut were talked about on the lists, and > pecanbread was listed as a good venue to do that. Elaine's daughter suffered from terrible nightmares and I believe also hallucinated before starting SCD. Although not exactly what you are talking about I expect they are related. Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to add that when I started the diet I felt as if a fog lifted, I could think more clearly and had much more energy. My husband (with no GI problems) noted the same thing. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! I'm very interested in what foods set you off - what foods causes you to become completely unreasonable, irrational, angry, etc. I've just started the diet 2 weeks ago for my IBS and I will put my daughter (age 9) on it soon. I have a theory that, for a large number of people, the wrong foods cause a lot of emotional and mental illnesses. I think that as our society has eaten more and more fake foods (foods with fake ingredients: crisco, aspartame, margarine, olestra, etc.) that the mental health of our nation has declined (but I am just guessing - I haven't researched if mental health diagnosis' are increasing). In addition to what people are eating (fake ingredients), what people are NOT eating is also a factor. Poor nutrition may be the cause for a lot of mental illness. For example: for years the best drug for bipolar disorder was Lithium, which is a mineral. I was shocked when I realized that a mineral was so powerful. That led me to think that maybe people just weren't getting the right nutrients from food, or maybe they were eating the right nutrients but they weren't able to absorb them. I hope that you will share your experiences with us.
