Guest guest
Hi , I think we're about the same place you are in the diet SCD15 days - Cody (3.1 yrs) is having problems with yeast as well. I can tell by all the giggling, stimming, aggressiveness, etc. I realized that I haven't been giving him the No-Fenol levels he used to get preSCD that helped control all those symptoms - so I started giving him the 1/4tsp again in his juices and he seems to be reducing the incidences of stimming and aggression. Unfortunately he's also cutting his last few molars so that's causing him some discomfort. We've noticed improved receptive language and his reflux seems to be gone - so we're hanging in there for now. I'm not an expert, but you may want to try No-Fenol as it's my understanding it works to reduce yeast levels. I'd say you are on the right track if you're seeing improvements in his eye contact b/c when Cody was taking digestive enzymes and No- Fenol we saw him go from looking sideways at us occassionally for a few seconds to now he'll look us in the eye and focus on a book for about two minutes... huge strides there in less then six months. Hang in there! Bobbie Cody 3.1yo Dev Delay, SID, reflux, nonverbal

Guest guest
Hi Bobbie, No-Fenol does NOT control yeast. It is used to help digest foods high in phenols/salicylates. For a kid who cannot handle the many fruits and vegetables in this diet, No-Fenol can help with their digestion and reduce symptoms like giggles, weeping, sleep disturbances. I , too, have noticed that this diet can aggravate yeast at first. For that, you really need to treat with an anti-fungal like Diflucan. Then you may see some of the stimming and aggressive behavior diminish (and maybe the bloated belly and dark circles). Actually No-fenol can help control yeast. Some of the enzymes it contains help break down the cell wall of the yeast. For more info on this see: http://www.enzymestuff.com/nofenolfile.htm Sheila, 60 months SCD, 22 yrs UC

Guest guest
Actually, if you read enzymestuff.com, I believe that No Fenol can help with yeast because the yeast cell wall is similar to cellulose, which No Fenol can break down. http://www.enzymestuff.com http://groups.yahoo.com/group/enzymesandautism Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
