Guest guest
Well, Flo I do not know quite how to respond to your comments. On one hand I know you are trying to be helpful but on the other I feel hurt (No one promised us this would be a sure cure or an easy fix. It may be you have to do lots of ground work and prep work to make this happen for you. I will be thinking of you and hoping that you will find the strength to do whatever you need to do to change your life.) In my mind there IS NO OTHER SURGERY. Dr. Rutledge is it. I am currently loosing the weight and when he tells me where I need to be I WILL get there no matter what. It will just be longer I have to wait. I wanted to have it done before he left on vacation. I did not think this was an easy fix. I am about to die Flo, do you understand that? If something is not done soon I will DIE. that is why I was so upset. I have struggled for 25 out of my 28 years with my weight. My poor body cannot take much more. I am not trying to sound harsh or hurt your feelings but I just want you to understand what this means to me. Thanks, Lara

Guest guest
Lara, I am with you. My husband just called Dr. R's office and Barbara said he does not operate on anyone over 350lbs. She says over this, he has seen too many complications. I too am going to have to lose down to 350. My husband is going to call insurance now to see if they cover the surgery. E-mail me if you would like and we can go through this weight loss together. Remember, God has a reason for everything that comes our way. We don't need to run into problems that would cause us and our family tears later down the road. in SC If you see someone without a smile: Give them one of yours :-)

Guest guest
We have to rely heavily on each other heavily ... get it? Sorry!! I am waiting for a response from Dr. R. I hope and pray he will say 400. That is what my patient manual says. Lets all have a moment of silent prayer for those of us having panic attacks right now. Guest guest
Ok now Lara, You WILL get to have your surgery eventually, so have no fear. It is just a matter of working out these details. Dr Rutledge gets hundreds of emails every day and it will take him a while to get back to you. Hang on.
Guest guest
Lara, draw a deep breath and then just do the next thing. Do whatever you would need to do next had this not happened. First you will hear from your insurance company. If it sounds like they will indeed pay, then your next step will be to get down to an acceptable weight for Dr. R. This is a set back for sure but this is not a definate no can do...this is a stumbling block which you can get over! Just put one foot in front of the other and move forward. Don't let this numb you into inaction. If it sounds like it might be ok with your insurance company, then you need to work on getting your weight down to where Dr. R needs it to be. If that is just not going to happen then you need to go to plan b which might be to consider another surgery. No one promised us this would be a sure cure or an easy fix. It may be you have to do lots of ground work and prep work to make this happen for you. I will be thinking of you and hoping that you will find the strength to do whatever you need to do to change your life. Guest guest
Greetings! As we have said and the manual says that the weight limit is 350-400. It is up to Doc. R., I would assume. There are many factors that would influence that decision and only he can answer them. Now, remember, Fanney lost 150 just to have the surgery. If you have to lose 10-20-30 pounds to have the surgery, it would seem to be an inconvenience, but do-able if you are really determined to have the MGB. I wouldn't panic yet about the weight limit until you see Doc. R. -Ginny Ivanoff MGB: 3/1/00 348/

Guest guest
Lara, I have no suggestions for you and I am sorry for that. I do understand your pain though. I know that if something isn't done soon I too could be over the limit and I am very grateful that I was able to find this before this happened, but it would have and I think that we all know this about ourselves. Please, stay on and let us know how you are doing to get to your surgery weight. Even though I have a date I will not feel secure until it is over. I worry that something will happen that will postpone it. I have seen others go through this. We are all still in this together and it is wonderful to know we can come here to vent our worst feelings along with our joys. I know I have done my share. So keep on, none of us knows all that the others have gone through but when we start sharing we find out how many others have or are going through what we have. With your determination it will happen but it is very disappointing when it is not when we want. I know I just whined about this on Wed. We love you and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
