Guest guest
To the group and Marjorie -- I made a suggestion, based on my personal experience -- the way I would to a friend, which is how I've always regarded this group -- and I didn't make a diagnosis. I emphasized that the poster get to her doctor ASAP. I listed some other symptoms that might be valuable. Bell's can have a better outcome if it is diagnosed early. Marjorie, I realize that of late, you've appointed yourself a sort of " medical monitor " for the group, weighing in on everything from makeup to sunscreen to antibiotics. While your enthusiasm is considerable, I feel the initials after your name are invalidating and (I'm sure unintentionally) intimidating some posters. For example, if someone posted a similar question again, would I answer the same? Probably, because I'm me, although someone else might be intimidated by your " monitoring " . The way I see it, I might help one person with Bell's, and if it's not Bells, no one was harmed at all. I encourage group members to keep on posting. That is what has made this an useful and dynamic group -- and some of the posts " on the edge " have been the most interesting to read. Presumably, you too, Marjorie, feel the same way, and that's why you're here. As I remember, early on, you made no attempt to cast yourself as a skin specialist, neurologist, OB-GYN, etc. right? Don't you work in emergency medicine in some capacity? With no insult intended for you on a personal level, if doctors had all the answers, we wouldn't be here exchanging information...
