Guest guest
Hi Patty, > How do I know when we are ready to progress to some uncooked > fruits/veggies? Symptom free? Less symptoms? Try them and see? If you started with the intro or at least peeled and cooked fruit and veggies and then gradually try more complex foods any negative changes in symptoms would let you know you aren't ready for them yet. My DH did the diet a few yrs back and since he didn't have any symptoms just ate anything legal. Does your DH have symtoms of any kind? My son really wanted some (legal) peanuts we had in the house but he's only been on the diet 3 weeks and is really turned off of baked nut products after his first try on the diet. He tried a little baked nuts with no problems. AFAIK, he hasn't had any fallout from the nuts. Thanks and take care, Fay (13 y.o. son with Crohns)

He tried some (legal) peanuts and had a near immediate reaction - stomach ache. Which is actually a good thing, as he didn't have that the first time on the diet. OTOH, he ate a raw, peeled apple with no immediate problem, so we'll add that into the diet. He's on week 4 so theoretically we can start gentle experiments. Just slow going for a kid who won't eat squash or nuts, on week 4. I just ordered some Digestive Wellness flour. Even putting the stuff I have through the food processor doesn't get it as fine as DW's. Here's hoping he'll actually try the muffins again. Take care, Fay If he didn't like blueberries preSCD then he probably won't be big on blueberry almond muffins. Does he like muffins/cupcakes breads? Anything in particular - maybe we can make a good suggestion to try so you don't waste your nut flour. Sheila
