Hello everyone, I just spoke with Dr. Rilo who is a doctor here in Cincinnati

at the University of Cincinnati. He was so very nice to talk with and gave

me so very much positive information. He does the islet transplantation here

in Cincinnati for people who suffer from chronic pancreatitis. He has a lot

of compassion for those who have chronic pancreatitis and understands how

life altering this disease is and how painful it is also. He has experience

in Pittsburgh and has given symposiums. His goal is to help people like us

who suffer from such a debilitating disease. I was very impressed with him.

He was very down to earth and caring. I wish I could tell you all that he

told me but I don't really understand everything right now. I will keep you

posted on everything that I learn about Dr. Rilo and the work that he does at

the University Hospital.

He has given me his two E-mail addresses and I will pass them on to you. He

is going to set me up with a coordinator at the hospital to follow me with my

health since I have had the pancreatectomy and the islet cell transplant.

That is a huge relief for me since so many doctors really don't understand

the pancreatectomy and islet cell transplant and the care that a patient

could need from having the surgery.

I am so pleased that he returned my call and that I will be going to people

here in my city who understand what the surgery I had entails and know what

my body has experienced.

Dr. Rilo knows Dr. Sherman and Dr. Lehman. He is very experienced and will

be meeting with Dr. Sutherland soon. They will have a lot to discuss I am

sure.

Dr. Rilo asked for our support group site. I am going to send it to him and

maybe he will have some time to chat with us and answer some of our/your

questions. He seemed very interested in you and your pain. I am hoping for

the best from my conversation with him. I liked him right away. He has done

20 islet cell transplants and I know if he gets in touch with the group he

will be able to inform us of all his experience with pancreatitis patients.

Dr. Rilo's E-mail address is

RiloHL@...

Rcercone@...

Hang in there more and more doctors are learning about our plight with

chronic pain and not being able to eat. Love, Shirley
