What could be causing this? Did they have a bad smell before or is this an improvement? Wondering if the ammonia smell may have been masked by other odours preSCD? Are you using probiotics or yogurt? Guest guest
Hi Bobbie, Did you just start the yogurt? Did he eat yogurt preSCD? How much/day? Guest guest
I started the yogurt on day 3 with just a few babysize spoonfuls and worked up to half a child's cup. He now drinks a cup of yogurt mixed with bananna for his daytime snack and bedtime dessert. He was on Houston probiotic before SCD, but not yogurt. > > Thanks, > > Bobbie > > SCD day 15 > > Cody, 3yo, dev delay, SID, nonverbal, reflux > > >

That is a lot this early into the diet. But, if his bowel movements continue to improve and the smell starts to fade you should be fine. If the smell doesn't start to decrease in the next week or so or if bowel symptoms get worse let me know. Sheila

Guest guest
Try whole goat milk. It's easier to digest. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, The ammonia smell seems to be gone, but his stool is loose and orange again. I'm considering backing off on everything and starting him on the basic diet again for a few days to see what happens. Thanks, bobbie > The ammonia smell may be from the yogurt.
