Guest guest
Debbie, I'm sorry I scared you off from the colonoscopy. I had one 2 1/2 years ago when I first began having acute panc and I had no problems. I'm really not sure what happened. The internal med doc said the GI could have used a lot of air and it got trapped under the diaphram. He said that can cause excruciating pain. I can only tell you it that it felt like a panc attack and was the worst I've ever had. It was different in that even the slightest touch made it way worse. Even talking made it worse. I'm really not sure if it did bother the panc since even my liver enzymes were okay. Only one was slightly elevated. Personally, I'm not sure if I'd have one for constipation but if you have rectal bleeding, I'd definitely say it's worth the risk. My stepdaughter's grandmother found out she has colon cancer and it had already spread to her lungs and liver by the time they found it. Her only symptoms were that she had felt tired and her hematocrit and hemoglobin had dropped and they couldn't find any other reason for it. Colon cancer is very cureable if caught early. My grandmother had it. She had surgery and was checked for the rest of her life. It never came back and she lived at least 15 years after having it. She was in her 80's when she died. Colonoscopy & Pancreatitis I am scheduled for a colonoscopy on Monday after seeing my PCP and telling him that I am constipated (always have been) unless I take natural Herbs on a daily basis. So now he orders a Colonoscopy and puts down abdominal pain on my check out sheet. I don't have abdominal pain - I have the strange epigastric pain that comes and goes in and around the pancreas. Well, I started the prep today but after reading what happened to and her colonoscopy - I told my husband that I don't want it - now I am scared that it will trigger more pain for me and right now the pain hasn't gotten bad enough to take pain meds. Has anyone else had a colonoscopy trigger severe pain like had? I think I will have my husband call in on Monday that I am sick and forget it - I don't think I need it anyway. Thanks so much!
