chocolate frosting ideas -- HELP!

So, I have spent the last 7 months preparing special SCD legal cakes

for my son (3.6 years) to bring to birthday parties. I usually make a

cherry cake with cream cheese frosting or a banana bread with cream

cheese frosting. Inevitably the party ends with frustration and

sometimes tears. There is almost always cake with chocolate frosting

and his cake looks difft., and he really, really wants the chocolate.

For some reason, this is the most difficult part of the diet for him.

I mean this is the kid who at the market will say to me, " can I just

hold the candy, mommy. Can I just smell it. " I'll say yes, let him do

it, and that is that. But for some reason, the birthday party thing

is torture for him. So...my first question is, does anyone have any

suggestions for a way to make my cream cheese frosting look like

chocolate frosting. He LOVES the cream cheese, and truthfully, as

long as it looks chocolate he wouldn't no the difference. O.K., and

my next thought, dare I say this, but I am desperate, and thought

maybe if I just put one or two drops of GF/CF melted chocolate into

the cream cheese this would make it look special to him and would

certainly not be right as far as the diet goes, but might not be

absolutely terrible. We have been fanatically strict up until this

point, so I am really tentative about doing this. Any thoughts or

suggestions.

Thanks,

molly
